Happy Together is about Lai and Ho, two handsome guys from Hong-Kong (Tony Leung and Leslie Cheung, two star actors) who have gone to Argentina to follow their desire. A sex scene tells us immediately that these two men on holiday are lovers, and their Argentinian adventure resembles some kind of reunion or new start. The two men leave each other then get back together... As such, one may consider Happy Together as a sort of report on a domestic dispute, along with its characteristic moments of immense tendernesses and truly horrendous fuckups. A magnificent film, one of the most beautiful in the world when it comes to the topic of homosexuality. A haunting piece that leaves us asking the only truly relevant question: how can we be happy together?
